Kazakhstan plans to boost the percentage of domestic participation in the Kashagan and Karachaganak projects, the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies reported, according to CA-News.

“In order to develop local content under the production sharing agreement it is necessary to… increase the proportion of local content in the project for the future of the Tengizchevroil Limited Partnership, i.e. to ensure the conclusion of memoranda of understanding and cooperation in major projects in the oil and gas sector (North Caspian Operating Company – Kashagan and Karachaganak Petroleum Operating BV). It is needed to ensure a commitment to increase the share of local content, to transfer experience to Kazakh contractors and suppliers, encourage the creation of joint ventures with Kazakh firms as well as to increase the qualification and employment of Kazakh workers,” the report said.
